Editorial Standards
Our commitment to accuracy, independent verification, ethical treatment of vulnerable sources, and editorial autonomy.
1. Independent Verification & Sourcing
Migrant Times requires primary documentation or multiple independent corroborating sources before publishing factual claims regarding human rights abuses, bilateral government disputes, recruitment fees, or legal violations.
Wherever feasible, our reporting links directly to primary sources, public agency records, official court documents, and academic research data.
2. Protection of Vulnerable Sources & Anonymity
Migrant workers, asylum seekers, and informal community members often face real risks of deportation, arrest, physical retaliation, or employment termination for speaking to journalists.
When anonymity or pseudonyms are granted, the decision must be reviewed and approved by the Managing Editor. The publication must clearly explain to readers the reasons for granting anonymity, and the reporter must know the source’s true identity.
3. Conflicts of Interest & Commercial Separation
Editorial staff maintain absolute independence from commercial, governmental, and institutional sponsors. Sponsors and advertisers have zero advance notice of editorial content and no right of review or veto.
Any sponsored content, partner initiatives, or direct-sold advertising placements are explicitly disclosed to readers with prominent visual labeling.
4. Generative AI & Automation Policy
Migrant Times does not publish articles written or synthesized by generative AI. All stories are written, field-reported, and vetted by human journalists and editors.
Machine assistance may be utilized strictly for computational data analysis, statistical parsing, or preliminary optical character recognition of public documents, under human oversight.
5. Accountability & Corrections
When an error of fact occurs, we correct it promptly and transparently. We do not unpublish or silently alter articles without disclosure. For full details on our correction procedures, consult our Corrections Policy.
